WEBM005200 is the first shop manual Komatsu issued for the SK818-5 and SK820-5 turbo, dated September 2003. It's the right book for early machines. A later edition picks up at a higher serial.

Fits

SK818-5 from serial 37BF50003 and SK820-5 turbo from 37BTF50003. Machines from 37BF50111 / 37BTF50112 onward are covered by the later edition, WEBM005001, which we also stock. If your serial sits between the two starting numbers, this is your book.

What's in it

The book covers the hydrostatic transmission, pumps and drive motors, PPC valves, control valve and hydraulic circuits, explaining how each works before getting into the numbers. The electrical chapter covers the sensors and senders. Testing and adjusting gives the pressures and pump settings and includes the troubleshooting tables. Disassembly and assembly of the major components follows, then the maintenance standards and wear limits.

It's set out in Komatsu's usual order, so it's easy to follow if you've used any of their other shop manuals. It's a practical book for owners and small shops keeping an early -5 skid steer working, where the right figures matter more than anything.

Table of contents

  • Structure and function: hydrostatic transmission, pumps and drive motors, PPC valves, control valve, hydraulic circuits
  • Electrical system, sensors and senders
  • Testing and adjusting: pressures, pump settings and troubleshooting
  • Disassembly and assembly of major components
  • Maintenance standards and wear limits

Good to know

Most people use a book like this one section at a time. Look up the system that's giving trouble, read how it's meant to work, test it against the standard values, and only then order parts. That order saves money, because a reading that's close to spec usually points somewhere other than the part you suspected first. You can print the pages for the job and keep the PDF on a tablet for everything else.

Before you buy

Compare your serial with both editions before you order. Buying the wrong one is the most common mistake with these.
