What's in it

After the general specs and fluids, section 10 covers structure and function for the travel motor and transmission, axles, differentials, steering, brakes, swing machinery, outriggers, blade, hydraulic pump, CLSS valves, PPC and EPC valves, and electrical.

Section 20 combines testing, adjusting and troubleshooting, with the standard values, checks and problem-to-cause charts. Section 30 covers disassembly and assembly, and section 40 is the maintenance standards with wear limits for each part.

If your machine is an early one, this is the edition that matches it. The separate wear limit section is handy when planning axle, brake or swing work.

Most people use a book like this one section at a time. Look up the system that's giving trouble, read how it's meant to work, test it against the standard values, and only then order parts. That order saves money, because a reading that's close to spec usually points somewhere other than the part you suspected first. You can print the pages for the job and keep the PDF on a tablet for everything else.

Check your serial against K32001 / K34001. From those numbers on, the later edition is the better match.
