This is Komatsu Mining Germany's service manual for the PC8000-6 Diesel, rev 0a from October 2005. The PC8000 is among the largest hydraulic excavators built, and the book runs to 610 pages.

It's split into 15 sections, each with its own contents page. It starts with safety, technical data and references to the assembly procedure. Then come the main assembly groups and the drive, the hydraulic oil tank and hydraulic oil cooling, the controls and components, and the main pumps and their regulation. The operating hydraulics, track tensioning and hydraulic access ladder each have a section, and so do the central refilling system and the lubrication systems. It finishes with notes on the hydraulic and electric circuit diagrams and the Electronic Control System (ECS).
Mine site maintenance crews will lean on the pump regulation and ECS sections most. On a machine like this, getting the hydraulic settings right affects both production and fuel burn.
Most people use a book like this one section at a time. Look up the system that's giving trouble, read how it's meant to work, test it against the standard values, and only then order parts. That order saves money, because a reading that's close to spec usually points somewhere other than the part you suspected first. You can print the pages for the job and keep the PDF on a tablet for everything else.
