What's in it

There are two parts: the electrical diagrams and the hydraulic diagrams. They're the drawings a mine electrician or hydraulic fitter keeps open when tracing a fault, following a circuit from the sensor or switch back to the controller, or a hydraulic line from the pump to the cylinder.

Shovels this size often have options and field changes added over the years. If yours has been modified, compare the drawings with what's on the machine before relying on them.

The shop manual explains how each system should work and what readings to expect. This book shows how it's connected. Mine maintenance teams usually want both.

Table of contents

  • Electrical diagrams
  • Hydraulic diagrams

Good to know

A diagram book doesn't tell you what a reading should be. That's in the shop manual. What it does is show exactly how the machine is connected, which is the part that takes longest to work out without drawings. Used together, the two books make fault finding much quicker. Diagrams are easiest to use printed large or zoomed in on a screen. Electricians often trace the circuit they're working on with a highlighter, then check each connector and wire along that path with a meter. Hydraulic drawings work the same way, from the pump through the valves to the cylinder or motor.

Before you buy
