What's in it

It begins with delivery, transport, lifting, manpower and assembly time. Then come the site and space requirements, basic measurements and transport weights, so the pad and cranes can be planned before the loads arrive.

The build starts with the undercarriage and the torque determination, then the superstructure. The boom and cylinders follow, then the fuel tank, access ladder, cab base, counterweight, handrails and cab. After the pre-start checks, the stick and the backhoe or bullclam bucket are fitted, along with the pin seals. The last section covers starting the central lubrication system, plus the standard and flange torque charts.

Mine site teams and erection contractors use it to plan and run the build.

Good to know

Read the whole guide before the machine arrives. It tells you how much room you need, what cranes and slings to have ready and which parts come separately, so nothing holds the crew up on the day. Then work through the steps in the order Komatsu gives them, and keep the torque values and fluid specs to hand as you go.
