What's in it

The book starts with the track frames and greasing the swing circle, then joining the upper structure to the undercarriage. Travel piping, counterweight, steps, handrails, radiator cover, intake and muffler come next. After that it covers bleeding air from the travel motors and hydraulic circuit, the swing circle bolt torque and the track link checks. Then the work equipment goes on: boom, boom and arm cylinders, arm and bucket, with mount clearance standards. Grease piping and wiring and bleeding the swing motor follow. It finishes with the return and pilot filter changes and hydraulic circuit flushing.

The flushing and bleeding steps are worth following to the letter, because contamination introduced during assembly is a common cause of early hydraulic trouble on big excavators.
