GEN00112-03 is the field assembly guide for the HM400-3, Komatsu's 40-tonne class articulated dump truck. It covers the few parts removed for shipping and the setup that follows.

Fits

HM400-3 from serial 3001. Empty weight is about 33,660 kg. The smaller HM300-3 has its own guide, GEN00111-03.

What's in it

It begins with the removed unit drawings, dimensions, schedule and tools, then slinging and positioning the bare machine. The rear-view mirror is unfolded, and the left guard and antenna are fitted. The rear monitor is installed and set up with the four-step adjustment.

Then the N2 gas is set in the front and rear suspensions and the hoist cylinder is connected. The book ends with the decals, the mirror adjustment sheets for standard and wide mirrors, and an inspection report.

Dealers use it on delivery. It's 27 pages and clear, and the inspection report gives you a record that the truck was set up to spec.

Table of contents

Good to know

Crews who do this work often print the step pages and the torque tables and leave the rest on a tablet. The guide also helps in reverse, when a machine has to be broken down for transport, because most steps simply run backwards. The final checks are worth doing in full and signing off, since they're your record that the machine was built correctly.

Before you buy

This is an assembly guide, not a repair manual. For troubleshooting and overhaul you'll want the machine's shop manual as well.
