What's in it

The electrical circuits of the machine, drawn out the way Komatsu supplied them. There are no hydraulic diagrams in this one. They're in other books.

A schematic is what you want when a fault code or a dead function points to wiring. You can follow the circuit from the power supply through fuses, relays and connectors to the controller and on to the sensor, switch or solenoid at the end. Then you test at the right pins instead of guessing or cutting into a harness. It's also the book to check when an option has been added or someone else has been into the wiring before you.

The pages are scans of large drawings. Read them zoomed in on a screen, or print the sheet you need at A3 or bigger and take it to the machine.

Good to know

A diagram book doesn't tell you what a reading should be. That's in the shop manual. What it does is show exactly how the machine is connected, which is the part that takes longest to work out without drawings. Used together, the two books make fault finding much quicker.
