What's in it

It starts with the block outline, component dimensions, work space layout, schedule, tools, oils and paints. The assembly steps cover the front axle, drive shaft, brake pipes and tire and rim assemblies. Then come the cab, harness and ducts, for both the AJSS joystick steering and steering wheel versions, followed by the rotary lamp, fenders and lights. After that it covers the muffler, mirror, counterweight options, ladder, platforms, handrails and fire extinguisher. The lift arm, bell crank, bucket cylinder and bucket follow.

The last section is the one people miss: bleeding, first start, EPC and bucket positioner adjustment, load meter calibration and running-in.

Good to know

Read the whole guide before the machine arrives. It tells you how much room you need, what cranes and slings to have ready and which parts come separately, so nothing holds the crew up on the day. Then work through the steps in the order Komatsu gives them, and keep the torque values and fluid specs to hand as you go.

Before you buy

This is an assembly guide, not a repair manual. For troubleshooting and overhaul you'll want the machine's shop manual as well.
