SEBM035103 is one engine shop manual for eight small indirect-injection diesels that Komatsu fitted across its compact range. It's the 2008 edition.
3D82AE-5M in the PC27MR-2. 3D84E-5N in the PC30MR-2. 3D84E-5X and S3D84E-5X in the WA30-5, WA40-3 and WA50-3. S3D84E-5PBA and 3D88E-5P in the PC35MR-2 (including high-altitude spec), MX352 and PC40MR-2. 4D88E-5X in the PC50MR-2, MX502 and PC58UU-3. 4D94LE-2Z in the D20 and D21-8 series dozers (A, P, PL and PLL).
It opens with general specs and engine data for each model, then structure and function. Testing and adjusting gives the routine checks and settings. Disassembly and assembly, the maintenance standards and a chapter on repair and replacement of parts complete it.
These little engines are in a lot of mini excavators and compact loaders still in daily work. They usually come in for hard starting, smoke, low power or a full rebuild after many hours.
Small-engine shops and rental fleets get good value from it because one book covers so many machines. Check which engine your machine has before you start, because the specs differ between variants.
An engine book is most useful on the bench. Measure each part as it comes out, compare it with the limits in the maintenance standards, and you'll know what can be reused before you place a parts order. The torque tables and tightening sequences matter just as much on the way back together, especially for the cylinder head and the main and rod bearings.
