SEBM011501 is the 2003 engine shop manual for the small Komatsu diesels in the -8 series mini excavators. It covers five engine families in one book.
3D68E-3G (PC12R-8), 3D68E-3H (PC15R-8), 3D74E-3C (PC20R-8), 3D82AE-3E (PC25R-8), 3D82AE-3F (PC27R-8), 3D84E-3F (PC30R-8 and PC35R-8), 4D84E-3B and 4D84E-3C (PC50UU-2), and 4D84E-3D (PC40R-8 and PC45R-8).
It opens with the specs, cross sections, fluids and a troubleshooting section. Then come the special tools, measurement, inspection and adjustment. Disassembly and reassembly follow, with the service data and torques.
There's a separate chapter on the fuel injection pumps, both indirect and direct types, plus the governor and turbocharger. A shorter chapter covers the CARB and EPA-certified engines.
Small-engine shops and rental companies with a fleet of -8 minis will get the most use from it, since one book covers almost the whole range. The injection pump chapter is especially useful, because many machine manuals leave that work out.
An engine book is most useful on the bench. Measure each part as it comes out, compare it with the limits in the maintenance standards, and you'll know what can be reused before you place a parts order. The torque tables and tightening sequences matter just as much on the way back together, especially for the cylinder head and the main and rod bearings.
Check the engine model on the plate. The suffix letters matter, so match yours to the list above.
