The SA12V170-1 is a 46.3 litre V12, the engine behind Komatsu's D575A-2 super dozer among others. SEBM028506 is its shop manual from 2005, and it's the engine book only.
SA12V170-1, 12 cylinders, 170 x 170 mm. The manual lists the D575A-2 and D575A-2SD bulldozers (with engine serial breaks), the HD1200-1 dump truck and the EG1100-1 generator. Output is up to 783 kW at 1,800 rpm, depending on the application. The later 12V170-2 engine has its own manual, SEBM036601.
It opens with general specs, performance curves and fuel injection pump data. That data matters because output differs between the dozer, the truck and the generator. The structure and function chapter explains how each engine system works. Testing and adjusting covers the checks you'd do when power is down or the engine smokes. Disassembly and assembly, the maintenance standards and the repair chapter cover the overhaul itself.
Engines like this are rebuilt on a schedule in mining, and the work is usually done by specialist shops. This book gives them the factory clearances, torques and procedures. Check for the engine serial breaks listed for the D575A-2 before you rely on a figure.
An engine book is most useful on the bench. Measure each part as it comes out, compare it with the limits in the maintenance standards, and you'll know what can be reused before you place a parts order. The torque tables and tightening sequences matter just as much on the way back together, especially for the cylinder head and the main and rod bearings.
