SEN05624-02 is the later edition of Komatsu's engine shop manual for the SAA6D125E-6. That's the 11.04 litre six in the PC490LC-10 excavator, the HM300-3 articulated truck and, in this edition, the WA470-7 loader.

Fits

SAA6D125E-6, 125 x 150 mm. The manual lists the PC490LC-10 (270 kW, 362 HP at 1,900 rpm), the HM300-3 (248 kW, 333 HP at 2,000 rpm) and the WA470-7. The earlier -01 edition, also in our catalog, doesn't include the WA470-7.

What's in it

It covers the index and safety pages, specs and emission information, then structure, function and maintenance standards. Testing and adjusting and troubleshooting come next. The engine is electronically controlled, so expect fault-based diagnosis as well as mechanical checks. Disassembly and assembly and the repair and replacement of parts finish the book.

Engine rebuilders and dealers who see the same engine across Komatsu's excavators, trucks and loaders will use it most. It's also for fleet mechanics chasing low power, fuel system faults or overheating on any of the three machines.

Table of contents

  • Index, safety, specs and emission information
  • Structure, function and maintenance standards
  • Testing and adjusting

Good to know

Before you strip an engine, it's worth running the tests in this book first. The checks in the testing chapter often show whether the problem is in the engine itself or in fuel, air or electrics around it. That can save a teardown. If it does need opening up, the service limits tell you which parts are still good.

Before you buy

Engine only. Removal from the excavator, truck or loader is in that machine's own shop manual. If you have a WA470-7, get this edition rather than the -01.
