The GX garden tractors used three different Kawasaki engines, and TM1973 gives each engine its own section. That means you work from the right specs for the engine in your tractor.
GX325 (Kawasaki FH531V), GX255 and GX335 (FH601V), GX345 (FD611V). TM1973, February 2006, North American version.
It covers the manual description and safety, specifications and identification numbers, and then each Kawasaki engine with specs and full repair. The electrical section covers component location, schematics and harnesses. The drive system and mower deck section covers service and repair, including belts, deck leveling and the drive. Each engine section follows the same order: specs, component location, theory of operation, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair. Because the GX models don't all share an engine, you work from the right figures for valve clearance, governor settings and torque values. The electrical schematics help with no-starts caused by the seat, brake or PTO safety switches.
Homeowners who maintain their own tractor and small-engine shops. Typical jobs include hard starting, deck and belt service, drive problems and engine repair.
Confirm the engine model on the engine label before ordering parts, since the GX models don't all share the same engine. The engine model is on a label on the engine itself; it's quicker than going by the tractor model if the tractor has had an engine swap.
