A 4710 has a lot of wiring running between the cab, the boom and the solution system, and when something stops working in the middle of spraying season you need to find it fast. TM1862 is John Deere's diagnosis and tests manual for early 4710 sprayers, and it's how you narrow a fault down to the actual circuit or component.

John Deere 4710 self-propelled sprayer, serial numbers before 004000. Manual TM1862 dated 25AUG11.

What this manual covers

It opens with specifications, operational checks and trouble codes, including steering system (SSU) codes. The observed-symptoms section is sorted by system: engine, fuel and air, electrical, power train, brakes, hydraulics, suspension and tread adjust, steering, cab, solution system and foam marker. The electrical section is the biggest, with more than fifty sub-system diagnostics such as boom raise and lower and leveling (separate for 60 ft and 80/90 ft booms), the GreenStar display, StarFire receiver and FieldDoc. Further sections cover tests for the hydrostatic drive, final drives and traction control, brakes, hydraulics, the cab, spray rate and pressure, and the foam marker.

Mind the serial cut-off: this edition is for machines before 004000. Machines from 004001 on need a different edition. Repair procedures are in the companion repair manual, TM1861, which is not included.
