Bought an IH 674 that came without its book, or worn the old copy to pieces? This is the factory operator's manual, part number 1084163R3, reprinted by Case IH. It's written for the person who drives and looks after the tractor every day, and it covers both engines the 674 was sold with, so it's the right book whichever version is in your shed.
International Harvester / Case IH 674 tractor with either the IH C-200 gasoline engine (4-cylinder, 200 cu in) or the IH D-239 diesel (4-cylinder, 239 cu in). Both are rated at 2400 rpm. Synchromesh transmission, 20 gallon (75.7 L) fuel tank.
The gas and diesel chapters are both complete, so starting, stopping, fuel system venting and the carburetor or injection pump basics are there for whichever engine you have. The rest of the book covers driving and braking, using the transmission levers and differential lock, setting up the three-point hitch and draft control, running the independent PTO and auxiliary valves with remote cylinders, cooling and air cleaner care, and the charging, cranking, ignition and lighting circuits. It also shows how to change tread width, set toe-in, add ballast and pick tire pressures, then finishes with the engine clutch, storage, cold-weather precautions and a full lubrication table.
This is an operator's manual, not a shop manual. It handles daily running and routine upkeep, not engine or transmission overhaul. The manual asks you to record both engine serial numbers from the plate inside the front cover, which is worth doing before you order parts.
